Youth round up
Under 6
After a lively warmup we focused on a few game related events, namely passing when tagged and holding a line in defence which are both things we all need to be excellent at as we move through the tag rugby age groups. The players weren’t quite on their “A” game today but that can be excused (unlike Englands performance!) after excellent performances over recent weeks coupled with a cold morning and tricky underfoot conditions. Still great as usual to have a nice buzz of enjoyment around the session.
A big well done to our weekly medal winners, great to see some new faces picking up the awards. As usual the end of month session sees the players of the month awards, bit of a tough one this month after whats been a good few weeks, so a huge well done to Charlie Chambers of our reception age group and Joshua Sylvester from the year 1 group.
The certificates were presented by Max Bird representing Rippa Rugby, so a huge thanks to Max, and everyone at Rippa Rugby and also all of our age grade sponsors Mark Norton, Pat Fraser, David Mcdonald and Sam Morton, for their continued support.

It was a cold session with frozen ground so we took the opportunity to use the crash mat to perfect our tackling and played touch games to run about and keep warm, focusing on passing and spacial awareness.

Great turn out today given the near zero temperatures.
Forced to move away from the contact area of the session plan given hard frosted ground.
Safety is our priority!
Focus therefore was on strong running with close support looking to take the ball at speed. We achieved this in parts but as always there is work to do to develop this skill.
There was also a tackling development zone to home in new and experienced players techniques on the crash mat, saw good progression in this area.
Well done players of the week and the whole team for your continued efforts to improve.

Girls
Both girls teams this weekend attended Warminster RFC for a Pitch Up and Play, with over 70 U13, U15 and U18 girls from various clubs from around Dorset and Wilts also attending. It was a well organised event by Claire and WRFC Crew, so a big thanks to all of them. The girls were clustered into their age groups, they then trained together and then got to play some proper games.
We will be hosting our second Pitch Up and Play on March 11th. The Pitch Up and Play for Girls are a great way for the girls to train together with other teams. Also allowing them to get game time which can be difficult for some girls teams if they do not have a whole team and a great opportunity for coaches to share their coaching ideas and experience with each other.

On a bracing day a well supported friendly saw Bournemouth U15s edge New Milton 40 to 32.
This was our third fixture versus a side who we had previously struggled against. Well done to the team who won the series 2-1.
Thanks as always to our sponsors, parents and fantastic coaching team.
