Youth round up

Under 6

Evening Team, welcome back, its great to put the rugby boots on rather than the wellies and gloves for snowman making, but trust you’ve all had a great few weekends doing just that. It was nice to see some more traditional snowmen with carrots for noses and coal for buttons reminds me of my youth!!

Even as we approach the latter end of the season its great that our numbers are still increasing, another 5 joiners over recent weeks so welcome aboard guys.

So todays session again with Max running the games and activities, we focused on a few of our more well known games, some stuck in the mud to warm the legs up, rob the nest to get us thinking about picking, carrying and placing the ball down, followed by some competitive slalom races and 20mins of rugby.

Some congratulations are in order this week, Leo & Jack who were awarded to the “Club U6 players of the month” trophies and spent an afternoon in the company of their parents at the lunch for the Maidenhead game on saturday, we trust the guys enjoyed the pitch runout with our 1st XV Captain, Joe Rees and man of the match photos with Jack Hennings. We’ll post the pictures when the photographer sorts them out over the coming days.

A big well done to our weekly medal winners, Beau, Sebastian & Eddie, great to see you guys picking up the prizes and just reward to not only today but your efforts over the past few sessions.

As usual the end of month sunday session sees the players of the month awards, as usual a tough one after whats been a good few weeks, so a huge well done to Jack Taylor from the year 1 group. We’ll present the reception award when the winner is around, so its a surprise to him.

The certificates were presented by Max Bird representing Rippa Rugby, so a huge thanks to Max, the Rippa Rugby guys (Stuart Gallacher) and also all of our age grade sponsors (Mark NortonPatrick FraserDavid McDonald & Sam Morton) for their continued support.

We had a number of players who were playing in their first fixtures, two of them have only been with us since February, and the spirit, determination and character shown by everyone was fantastic. The weather over the past few weeks didn’t help our preparations but it’s the same for everyone so no excuses on that point. With that thought in mind we need to get the teams together earlier in advance of fixtures to give us the best preparation possible so we’ll adopt that approach moving forward and make small adjustments to make sure it stays balanced. Our numbers do work against us at times in minis but they will stand us in good stead as we move up the age grades.

I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday, I hope everyone else who went did too. It is a big step up in terms of the level of competition we’re used to and, while a few results didn’t go our way, overall I feel it was a very successful day out as a playing, learning and bonding experience.

Our players represented our club in the best way they could and I know I speak for all of the coaching team when I say how proud we are of all of them.

I hope you all have an enjoyable Easter break and another well earned Sunday lay-in next week.

See you soon ?

Brilliant game of rugby today with our visitors from Fordingbridge and another excellent result for Bournemouth Under 11s who really are going from strength to strength.

Have had a very depleted squad for the past 18 months, we really are starting to see lots of new players join us and really make a difference to the small core of this team who have been playing together since they were 5 years old.

Really proud of this bunch and excited for the future.

The under 16's played there first Cup game yesterday against Wimborne and it was extremley tough as we only had 14 players. We managed to make the game very competitive and considering that we had no subs, all the players played extremley well. Wimborne had a full side of 22 players and made continuous changes throughout the game. I am very proud of the players determination and great team spirit. They showed good fitness and they knew it would be a challenge, but remained strong and positive. Final score was Wimborne 54, Bournemouth 12. We are now through to the Plate Semi-Final.
