In this, our 125th Anniversary year at Bournemouth Rugby, lots has happened throughout this season to celebrate our heritage. None more so than our focus on embodying all aspects of Rugby into our local conurbation as a community-based club.

We recognise that the future is our younger generation. The landscape for the hearts and souls of our youth today is very competitive as there’s an incredible range of opportunities out there for them. And so, we had to ask ourselves how we could make rugby as easy to play and as fun as possible. Rugby is so conducive to being active and running around and the Bournemouth Rugby Youth & Mini Festival encompassing U7 through to U15, is a testament to this. Bournemouth Rugby Fest 2018 saw 114 teams take part in the festival throughout the weekend.

We would like to thank all the volunteers, coaches, managers and referees, without which our Bournemouth Rugby Youth & Mini Festival 2018 would not be possible. Equally, a tremendous thank you to our supporters from our partners, ambassadors and parents, who are the foundation of all we do.

This weekend was a busy weekend at the club with the last home match of the season for the First XV and the Festival but the Under 6's still managed to train and even had a visit from the new Bournemouth Lion

I hope everyone made it home safely and are now enjoying being somewhere warm and dry! it was great to see our 3 teams out on the pitches and certainly from the feedback received there was some super rugby being played - a big WELL DONE to all the players in what was some very testing conditions, the core values were definitely on display (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline & Sportsmanship).

Just a quick one tonight to say a few thank yous. To the guys that helped with the parking this morning, turning up at 7:30, well done you did a great job. To the coaching team for looking after the teams so well and allowing me and Grant to keep things moving and make sure our guests were all ok. Thanks to you, the parents, for bringing our players along week in week out through the depths of winter. And finally and most importantly, to our players for some great character shown in challenging conditions and good rugby played in the best possible spirit.

Just a big thank you to all those that volunteered over the whole weekend. You have worked tirelessly to make this a successful festival for all.
To the 3 teams of players who worked very hard today with a mixed bag of results across the teams. We have become so used to winning that losing is sometimes hard to take.
We met some strong teams today that makes our festival one of the best around. We will learn a lot from this day to put us good stead for the future.
We have strength and depth of our team going forward.
Lastly thank you parents for trudging across the county in the wet and cold ensuring your children take part in sport and compete to be the best.

Wow!

What a day! Well done Lions you had some tough games today and despite the rain and cold you all had good team spirit and smiles !!

We are heading towards the end of a fantastic 2017/2018 season in the Under 11’s.

We have a strong core group and have been so lucky to have a great handful of new players join us this season who have integrated into the team and forged friendship and teamwork both on and off the pitch.

The U15 tournament was represented by 9 strong teams from across England and Wales. In the plate final 2 Welsh teams Cwmavon and Porthcawl finished with an equitable draw and share the trophy.

The Cup was won by Bishop Stortford who remained unbeaten all day.

Under 16

Under 16's played away to Sherborne in the Plate Semi Final. A great game by the Bournemouth Under 16's considering we only had one sub, we managed to win this game and are now through to the final on the 29th April. Bournemouth scored 21, Sherborne 13.

A really big well done to you girls today! Under 13s smashed it as normal playing some good rugby in the wet and mud! and a massive well done to the u15s who stepped up and played with the older ones! You guys really showed you can play excellent Rugby in harder situations which was great!
