Youth round up

Under 8's

There were some innovations on display this week with the drills and the games encouraging the kids to think on their feet and be adaptable.
I think the warmer weather definitely helped with engagement levels. In both games there were some great passages of play bringing team mates into the game and not just passing when tagged.
The awareness of the positioning of the opposition, running forwards and for supporting players to stay close to the ball player will make it easier when we play against other teams.

For the coaches, it's really great to see the new players who have come in this season being welcomed into the fold and supported by the more experienced players. We recognise that some of the features of rugby such as offside can be challenging for new players, particularly where they are looking to get involved, but if they stick with it and listen to the coaches, it will get more natural.

Great session this week in preparation for the upcoming festival season, well played everyone.

Congratulations to Handre and Oliver for picking up the gongs, great effort from two of our newer players.

Players and Coaches alike were pleased to get back to the rugby field, we lacked intensity in our play to begin with but by the end of our session the tackles were flying in.

More importantly the onus of principles of play in Going Forward, Support, Contest Possession was fully owned by you as players.

Attacker of the Day was awarded to Harry. He played well chasing down every loose ball and helped drive team mates forward constantly. Defender of the Day was awarded to Charlie. Amazing work ethic. In at every ruck and never gave up.
