World Cup winner Will Greenwood says he will now be watching out for the Bournemouth results in South West Premier each week.
One of the centres who lived the William Webb Ellis trophy in 2003 saw his Maidenhead team ruin Bournemouth’s perfect South West Premier record.
But the former Leicester and Harlequins centre who coaches Maidenhead who triumphed 28-16 says he cannot wait visit Chapel Gate.
He said: “I am looking forward to buying them a couple of beers in the clubhouse - it is what National Three Rugby is all about - a proper, proper game of rugby, a great tussle and a beer with some chips afterwards.
“So I’m hoping my ridiculous rugby schedule will allow me to get down for the away game later in the season and I look forward to watching out for their results every week because I have got no doubt this is just a blip for what is a very, very good Bournemouth team.”
The Lions’ unbeaten start to the campaign was always going to come to an end at some point - but with 11 wins out of 12 plus nine try-scoring bonus points, they still have a six-point lead over second side Ivybridge.
But the 2003 World Cup winner says he has no doubt Will Croker’s side will be in contention for promotion at the end of the season.
He added: “Bournemouth are brilliantly coached, and are so good at the breakdown.
“They knew their jobs - they knew their roles and I spoke to Will Croker and when you’re that good, everyone in the league wants to beat you - so Bournemouth are up there, and Maidenhead were down there.
“We had a good couple of games last year and I have got no doubt that Bournemouth are the best team in this league, and I thought their attitude out there in the game was absolutely outstanding and they held their heads up.”
