Bournemouth match winner Karim Lynch said the last-gasp South West Premier win at Brixham could have been described as “robbery.”
The Lions roared back from 15-3 down at half-time with two tries in the final five minutes to eventually triumph 20-18.
But the humble full-back said he was merely “lucky” to be the man who grabbed the decisive score after so much punishing play.
He said: “I was lucky to be the man to get on the end of the match-winning try to be honest.
“There was probably about 45 phases of play we did at the end of the match there I heard from someone - or something like that.
“Everyone must have touched the ball at least twice each there in the move, so to be the last man to get over the line was just a bit of a bonus.
“Brixham were a really good team today - they were probably the best we have come across all season.
“So to get the win - you could call it ‘robbery’ - but we are astounded with it.”
The table toppers were given their sternest test of the campaign so far after being behind for the majority of the contest at Astley Park.
But the Chapel Gate side, who have now won 16 of their opening 17 matches of the season, passed the test with flying colours.
Lynch said the elements needed to pull through the all-important victory could not be taught on the training field.
He added: “You can’t coach that sort of thing, but I think it was more getting the rub of the green.
“We are winning and we are confident at the minute, and when that is the case, that sort of thing tends to happen for you.
“In another season, or in another game I don’t think we would have pulled it out of the bag.
“But the fact we did when we were 18-6 down with just seven minutes to go.
“To get two late tries after 45 phases of play at the end there is just testament to the team and we put in really hard work to get through it.”
