Will Croker is looking forward to locking horns with an old adversary in Bournemouth's second pre-season game against Westcombe Park on Saturday (2.45pm).
The visit of the newly-relegated side will see former Basingstoke head coach Croker renew acquaintances with old Chichester head coach Rob Lawrence at Chapel Gate.
Croker pointed to the influence his former rival has had on the London South One side, and will be wary of their threat.
Croker said: "I'm really looking forward to the challenge which Westcombe Park are going to present us.
"They are coached by an incredibly clever and tactically-astute coach in Rob Lawrence, who has had some time in the professional game and is also someone that I coached against when I was at Basingstoke, and he was at Chichester.
"Westcombe Park were down and out when he took over the club in January, and he managed to get enough wins that they were going into the last game of the season that they almost managed to stay up.
"In fact, their form in the second half of the season would almost have made them promotion contenders, so we know they are not going to be any sort of pushovers."
The fixture will be precluded by a Second team match (1.45) - which Croker says gives the coaching team the chance to view the whole squad in its entirety.
With plenty of tweaking still being made ahead of the league curtain raiser at Old Pats on September 1, Croker said it is a good chance to iron out any remaining wrinkles.
He added: "I'm excited about the fact they are bringing such huge numbers because it has allowed us to play a second team fixture as well.
"So all of our coaches from the firsts, seconds and third teams are going to be able to get really good eyes on pretty much the whole squad of people who are available.
"It is a really really exciting fixture, and it is also helping us look at some combinations ahead of the remaining pre-season game against Old Reds where we are likely to try to pick the team that will play the first league match.
"It just gives us another chance to see how people get together and blend.
"Finally, it is something I have been waiting for - I have been waiting to see Mike Pope, Joe Tarrant, Hamish Rennick, Adam Higgins and Karim Lynch all on the same pitch at the same time.
"When you add in the other new boys of Ben Roberts and Mike Davies, who are back after such a long time out, I think it is a really exciting proposition for us.
"So I'm really looking forward to it and I can't wait to see how we go."
