The Lions have won three on the trot following their win against Camborne 31-20 at home last week. Director of Rugby Will Croker believes there is still room for improvement, having not gained a bonus point for a fourth score against Camborne.
Will says “It was our best performance of the season. But it’s interesting that I spoke to the players after and asked them how they felt. Many of them would have given it a seven out of 10. That, for me as a coach, was really pleasing. They know there is much more to come. I think it’s a measure of the respect and ambition I have for this squad in that we left the game feeling a little disappointed. We left a bonus point out there and should have had a fourth score. We dominated the scrummage, dominated the set-piece and were the only team who played any real attacking rugby. They had a good pick-and-go game and tried to maul well but they offered no enormous threat. This is going to be a tight league. You can see from the results that all the teams are capable of beating one another. Bonus points are going to make a big difference at the end of the season and that’s why we felt a little frustrated. However, the control and the manner in which we were able to take a lead and maintain it was pleasing.”
This week sees Bournemouth travel up to Cleve who are currently in 5th, one place behind Bournemouth. The Cleve game will be a tough test against a side who haven't lost at home this season.
