TRY scorer Joe Tarrant says he might start hanging out on the wing more often if it brings him more scores.
The prop-turned-hooker grabbed the decisive third try after 56 minutes against Cleve on Saturday in their 33-31 South West Premier road win.
That helped stretch their lead at the summit to a huge 15 points, and Tarrant puts his quick turn of pace down to recent weight loss.
He said: “I have lost a bit of weight recently so technically I was playing hooker, so I feel like I can hang out on places like the wing now.
“I prefer playing loosehead prop to hooker, but I am happy to play anywhere across the front row and do whatever the team needs me to do.
“We only have three replacements on the bench in this league so we all need to be versatile, so hopefully I can cover all three front row positions.”
That shows the versatility of The Lions’ squad with a number of their players able to ‘double up’ and play more than one position.
The modest front rower said he was “lucky” to grab the decisive score - and by leaving it until Grant Hancox’s winning penalty at the death - they made hard work of it.
He added: “It is of course a team effort by all of us - and I was just lucky to be hanging out on the wing really - but it felt good to finish it off.
“It felt really good to get the winning try in the end and I am over the moon with the result today, and we keep on going now.
“It felt amazing to pick up another away win - again it was very tight and again we made it hard for ourselves but we kept going right until the final whistle, and got the result in the end.”
