Bournemouth coach Jon Sanchez said his side will enjoy the festive break after reaching Christmas seven points clear at the South West Premier summit.
The Lions saw off their closest league rivals Barnstaple 16-7 on their own turf to head into the holidays on a high following a fantastic first half of the campaign.
Sanchez’s side will now take a well-earned rest from proceedings and return in the New Year ready to kick on again and Sanchez says it is an exciting time.
Sanchez said: “We now have two home games after the Christmas break against Weston and Bracknell and then we travel to Brixham so it is exciting times for us at the minute - it really is.
“We are not going to do any training over Christmas and New Year and then we might meet up on the Thursday after the break and have a bit of a fun session and then have one big session before we go again against Weston in the New Year.
“We are top at Christmas and seven points clear of Barnstaple, which is absolutely fantastic.”
The Lions deserve their advantage at the halfway point in the campaign.
Having now played every other team in the table, they have tasted defeat just once - against 2003 World Cup winner Will Greenwood’s Maidenhead.
Sanchez’s side posses a number of potent weapons and can vary their game plan with a strong rolling maul - but also electric backs behind their solid scrum.
Sanchez added: “I thought Mike Pope and Adam Davies controlled the game superbly from the halfback positions and with Karim Lynch at full-back - he is like a goalkeeper for us back there because he was absolutely fantastic today.
“But I could not pick a man of the match because I thought they were all absolutely superb from one to 18.
Even the people coming off the bench were just superb.
“With Harry Leadbeater at the front of the lineout coming up and stealing nearly every single one of their balls - that was just testament to him.
“He has just won player of the month for us, so it is absolutely fantastic for him.
“So I am really pleased for him and now it is onwards and upwards for us and him now heading into the Christmas break.”
