Bournemouth head coach Will Croker gave his side a score of ‘seven out of ten’ for their 34-3 bonus-point home success over Brixham.
The Lions had done the majority of all they needed to do in the opening period with two tries in just over ten minutes from scrum-half Sam Hardcastle and hooker Joe Tarrant.
That was followed by two more tries in 13 second-half minutes from blindside Alan Manning and right wing Adam Higgins but Croker said his players are their biggest critics.
He said: “The boys are working really hard and they are hard on themselves in training - more than ever - they are very, very self critical and I do not really need to come in and say too much in the way of criticism because they are already saying it before I get there.
“That is what is driving us and even then at the end of the game just then we were having conversations where the boys were saying ‘look we have just won that game - and we have won it well - but even then it is probably still only about a seven out of ten today.’
“That is a seven out of ten for a bonus-point win at home and only conceding three points because we know that our accuracy was down then where we should be.
“We probably should have made more of our scrum dominance and we let them off the hook with lineouts close to the line, so our accuracy is a bit down.”
Following the withdrawal of playmakers Grant Hancox and Mike Pope, there was a bit of a reshuffle in the midfield with Carlos Snell playing at inside centre and usual 12 Scott Chislett pushed inside to fly-half.
But Croker said following the reshuffle of his backline, they coped well with the adjustments and still did enough to secure a four-try scoring bonus point.
Croker added: “I was pleased with us in attack, I thought that bearing in mind we only had a midfield which was thrown together this week that it actually functioned very well.
“I thought there was some really good play amongst the boys, I thought the boys looked a little bit scratchy at times in the first period with lots of ball going to ground and we did not really seem to quite hit our flow.
“But we did enough in the tight battles to make sure we won enough ball and to have scored the two tries we did made me quite happy at half-time.”
