Bournemouth head coach Will Croker said his players have set high standards for themselves.
The Lions’ boss refused to be disappointed with his side’s 47-17 South West Premier home bonus-point win over Bracknell after conceding a late score.
But he admitted it was a bitter pill to swallow at the end of an encounter which extended his team’s advantage at the top to 12 points.
Croker said: “Our total of 47 points probably flattered us a little bit, but we will take the points.
“We were disappointed to concede that late try at the end when we did not get back into our defensive shape quick enough.
“But I think that is the mark of the team when you win by 47 points to 17 and we are disappointed that we are conceding late tries at the end of the match.
“It was a day at the office where we are just going to draw a line under it and take the tick in the box and move onto next week.
“Of course we are not disappointed by a bonus-point win at home - of course we are not - but we have set our standards quite high and we have lived up to those a lot of this season.
“I am not saying we were necessarily under them but I think for everybody leaving the ground afterwards they are coming off thinking it was a bit of a scratchy game.
“To play not as well as we can do shows the standards we have set.”
The Bournemouth boss instead chose the word “functional” as the best way to describe their fourth success on the bounce.
Not one to underplay his charges’ 12th bonus-point win of the season in the slightest, Croker was merely pointing out what him and fellow coach Jon Sanchez expect of their players.
Croker added: “It was a functional performance and it was a functional win.
“It was just that - it was functional - it was a home game and we are good at home and we have been for the last couple of seasons.
“Obviously we are undefeated at home this season so far and I would expect us to win that game today - and it was a functional performance - and we got the win.”
