Flying wing Dan Stewart says the Bournemouth side are doubly motivated than normal for the South West Premier visit of basement boys Old Pats this week.
Not only is an unbeaten home record for the season at stake against the team they demolished 50-0 in the campaign curtain raiser, but the achievement of registering 1,000 points scored for the year is also up for grabs.
With the title and National Two South promotion already secured, the man who scored the second try against Abbot says it will round the campaign off nicely if they achieve both of those targets.
He said: “The 1,000-point mark has been talked about within the camp for the last few weeks, and Will Croker has mentioned it to us.
“We have hit a lot of our targets this year by getting promoted and going unbeaten at home so we are ticking a few of those boxes.
“Hopefully to go unbeaten at home against Old Pats this week and beat that 1,000-point barrier will be the icing on the cake and the cherry on top of that.
“That will round off the season nicely.”
The roaring Lions have lost just once on the road all season - and overall - to open up a 25-point lead at the summit.
But despite not being completely at their best away from home last week in Devon, Croker’s side still registered their 12th road win out of 13 this season.
Stewart said the hard work had been put in on the training ground for it with the strength of their squad.
He added: “To be honest the difference today was just our patterns.
“I know we were a bit fast and loose today - from the fact we had a lot of new faces and a lot of faces missing from the previous week - but the fact that our first and Seconds team interchange so seamlessly has really helped.
“At the end of the day I think it was just our patterns and structures which did it for us.
“There was a lot of chat during the week about trying to rack up a lot of points in the last few games because obviously we are very close to the 1,000-point barrier in the league.
“We have still got to score a few more in the final game against Old Pats but it is always a good feeling to score that many on the road.”
