Bournemouth wing Adam Higgins may have become a bit of a good luck charm for the Lions following their 29-10 bonus-point win over Maidenhead.
The flying wing missed out on the trip to Berkshire last December when The Lions lost 28-16 in their only defeat of the campaign so far.
But he said he was more than delighted to help his team-mates avenge that loss and extend their lead at the South West Premier summit to 25 points.
Higgins said: “Funnily enough, I did not actually play in the defeat at Maidenhead so I have not really tasted defeat yet this year.
“I don’t want to boast about it but it has been a good season for me, and it was really good to get the win and I am chuffed for everyone who played in the game to get revenge on them.
“I would not say I was the good luck charm but the facts speak for themselves.”
The versatile back came through the ranks at Chapel Gate before taking in the next stage of his career in Australia with Bond University in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition.
But he returned to these shores last summer and he paid tribute to Chief Executive James Croker and his Director Of Rugby brother Will for the impact they have had at the club.
Higgins added: “It is massive to have the fans’ support behind us here at the club, because obviously I played here a few years ago and have recently come back to the club now, and to see the change with the Croker brothers coming into the club and having a massive crowd in the stand is amazing.
“There are more fans coming through the gates now which makes it a better experience for the lads as well, and we are really noticing it.
“It was really good to come off the pitch with a win over Maidenhead because they are really tough opposition, who are obviously fighting for that second-placed promotion play-off spot and it was really good to get the bonus-point win over them today.”
