Bournemouth head coach Jon Sanchez believes their 27-14 South West Premier bonus-point win over Drybrook said a lot about their character.

The Lions found themselves 14-12 down at the break, before clawing back to not only take the win - but register their seventh four-try scoring bonus in their first eight games.

Sanchez said he was delighted to eventually overcome what he believed to be the best side they had come up against so far this season.

He said: “I thought Drybrook were the best structured side we have come up against so far this season, and to go behind for the first real time really this season - and then further then a score behind too at 14-5.

In seasons gone by we would have made that dwindle but we showed our adversity to actually get back to what we know, get back to our patterns, and get back to our shapes and battle through.

We were absolutely delighted with getting another bonus point too - it took a long time coming - ten minutes into added time.

But I thought in the second half we really churned it out and played to the structures and the patterns we should be playing to and in the right areas.

We knew it was going to come and scrum dominance - as we proved today - is a massive factor.”

The Bournemouth scrum has been a huge weapon in their arsenal so far this season, and once again it provided a solid platform from which to build upon.

As well as at the set-piece, Sanchez also identified their defensive set-up as another area which brought them success in Gloucestershire’s Forest Of Dean  - a traditional breeding ground for strong scrums over the years.

Sanchez added: “What is great about our scrum is we know that if it comes down to it, and if we make a few compounded errors, then we know that we have got that go-to option to pile the pressure back on.

If you also have that strong defensive set as well then we can force our opponents into making mistakes and we can make them count and we will be rewarded for them - which is what the boys did today.”
