Bournemouth back Freddie Gleadowe gave his side a ‘thumbs up’ after their 29-10 bonus-point win over Maidenhead.
The cultured centre has been missing from action for the last few weeks with a thumb injury, but was back to his galloping best on Saturday.
The pacey centre made a number of good breaks for his team against the Will Greenwood-coached team, and Gleadowe said it was nice to see all of his hard work pay off.
He said: “I was absolutely delighted with my own performance today, I was really really pleased to be back on a firm track because it really does make a world of difference.
“I have been working on my pace for the last couple of weeks while I have had a thumb injury so it is always nice when you get those extra yards to pay dividends.
“The thumb is okay now but the rest of the body is pretty sore but there were a lot of yards today, but it was all well worth it so it is an absolute thumbs up from me!”
When the two sides first met in December, the Lions suffered their only defeat of the season so far.
Will Croker’s side lost 28-16 at the start of that month, and Gleadowe said they put that result to bed with the Chapel Gate bonus-point win to maintain their good home record.
He added: “It feels very good to come off the pitch with a bonus-point win.
“It was an excellent performance and we really wanted to put right the wrong up at Maidenhead because they really outplayed us quite substantially at their place and that is the only game we have lost this season so we had a wrong to right there.
“We are unbeaten here at home for two years so maintaining that home record is absolutely vital for us.
“Getting the bonus point was the absolute icing on the cake really, because the job at the start of the day was to keep them from getting a bonus point.”
