Will Croker singled out the contributions of Karim Lynch and Mike Pope in the 30-24 South West Premier win at Ivybridge.
Pope helped himself to a first-half brace of tries, before then unfortunately departing at the break to injury to deny him a hat-trick.
Full-back Lynch also came in for some high praise from his boss, who said he is an important player for them.
The Director Of Rugby said: “It is everything Karim does really which makes him so important to us.
“He is a great guy to have around the squad really because he is a lot of fun - but when it comes to his rugby he is deadly serious.
“You can see that today under the high ball where he never really looked like dropping one and he was so secure.
“When he exited the 22 with his kicks, he did it long and with accuracy.
“Even when he then had to carry the ball, he was so strong and was able to swat the defenders off with ease, so he had a really good game today.
“As we go up the leagues now, Karim will become more and more important for us because we may have to defend more and more.
“His defensive organisation and his attack was second to none.”
Prior to being forced to leave the field, former Exeter Chief Pope gave his side a strong foothold in the game by twice stepping inside the defence to score.
The Lions’ 22nd win in their opening 23 games pushed them 20 points clear of second side Barnstaple plus breached the 100-point mark for the campaign.
With the likes of Adam Davies and George Drake used in the stand off role earlier in the campaign, Croker says they are blessed with the options they have.
He added: “Mike Pope was excellent today and we are blessed with him, Adam Davies and George Drake so we have got some great fly-halves.
“But Popey’s first half today just goes to show what an excellent player he is.
“He really took the game by the scruff of the neck, scored two great tries and really got us back on the front foot.”
