Will Croker says physical new signing Dylan Baptista will help add to their burgeoning arsenal of wing talents at the club.
The versatile speedster, who can also operate at outside centre if needs be, has joined the club from the only side to have claimed the Lions’ scalp last season in South West Premier - Maidenhead.
He arrives at Chapel Gate with international honours having represented Zimbabwe, and Croker says he is well aware of the threat he poses to opposition defences
The Director Of Rugby said: “We are very blessed in the wing position in that we have Adam Higgins, Grant Hancox - who played there last year - and Dan Stewart who chipped in with a number of tries.
“We also have Alex Everett-Bolter, who is back at the club this year, and we are hoping Wyn Roberts might make an appearance too.
“That goes alongside the likes of Chris Jeffes and Will Muncer plus Josh Wright, who have all been doing well for the Seconds, so it is a position where we have a huge amount of competition.”
Croker has first-hand experience of the talent his first signing possesses after witnessing him touch down against his charges last season at Chapel Gate in a 29-10 home success.
The new man began his playing career at Tadley near Reading, before then moving to Southampton to play for Tottonians.
The Zimbabwe international will also add a considerable physical presence to the Lions’ back line and Croker says he cannot wait to witness the impact he will make.
Croker added: “He had a pretty good season last year and we saw him play very well against us - twice very well in fact - and scored a very good try against us at our place.
“He is an unusual winger in the fact he is a big strong boy and weighs over 100kgs that can travel pretty quickly so he is going to be a real threat.
“He is a very laid back and an easy going guy but really cares about his rugby, and we are really looking forward to seeing what he can bring.”
