Will Croker is taking the opportunity to introduce young legs for their Zoo Sports Shield Division Two trip to bottom side Tring.
Croker’s side won the first meeting between the sides on the opening weekend of the season when they triumphed 25-19 at home on September 1.
But with Bournemouth holding a 12-point lead over second side Henley, and opponents Tring four points adrift of ninth side Old Albanians, Croker is still fielding a strong side.
Croker said: “It will be fascinating to see how well Lewis Nicholls goes if he comes back from his shoulder injury.
“It is always exciting to see a backline with the likes of Alex Sutherland, Danny Kirkpatrick, Jesse Otway, Dan Stewart and Josh Wright so it is really exciting.
“The big news as well in terms of introducing new youngsters is that Harry Spears has come up to the team.
“He is somebody who has been playing well for the Colts team, and moved through Dorset and Wilts South West divisional trials and played a couple of times for the Thirds and has blistering pace.
“He is one who I think will be a real star for the future, and is off to join the army but we are going to get him back as and when he finishes his training so it should be a good game and I am looking forward to seeing what the result is.”
The likes of Sutherland, Kirkpatrick, Otway and Stewart have all featured for the first team this season, so Spears has plenty of experience to call upon - and learn from.
But the Lions’ second string is in good form at the minute having won their last three games in a row on the road at Bury St Edmunds, Henley and Richmond.
Croker said there were other players looking to get minutes under their belts too, and is anticipating a big battle.
He added: “We have had a couple of incredible results on the road and we are taking a very strong side away and there are a couple of guys who wanted a little bit of game time, who are going to be playing from the first team.
“So Ben Roberts, who is back from holiday, is going to be playing and Ben Russell is stepping into that side.
“But it is a very settled side in the main and Pat Fraser runs a very tight ship and him and Sammy Veneroso have got the boys ticking well.
“Under Simon and Mark’s guidance they have found a real consistency to their performance.
“It is a very fit team so they work hard and often at half-time, they are very close or even a little bit behind and very often they pull away in the second half so it should be a really good performance.”
