Bournemouth will try to tame the Brixham ‘wolf pack’ defensive threat when the South West Premier leaders travel to the fifth placed Devon side on Saturday.
When the two teams first met at Chapel Gate back in September, Will Croker’s side triumphed 34-3, but the Director Of Rugby saw plenty that day to be wary.
Brixham are the division’s second highest top scorers behind only The Lions and Croker is going to attempt to combat their prowess.
Croker said: “The first team have got a very difficult journey down to Brixham this week, who narrowly lost 22-17 at second placed Barnstaple at the weekend.
“They are very well coached by Martin Worthington and Dan Parks and are very physical.
“They have got very good line speed in defence so our ball players are going to have to think of ways of unpicking that.”
Unfortunately fly-half Adam Davies is out of the 200-mile round trip after suffering concussion in the 47-17 bonus-point home win over tenth team Bracknell last Saturday.
That means a promotion for the Seconds’ side playmaker George Drake, with versatile speedster Mike Pope also moving from scrum-half to the wing.
Experienced nine Sam Hardcastle has been rewarded for his good showings off the bench in recent weeks with the nine shirt and Croker said he has some great options at his disposal.
He added: “Unfortunately Adam Davies has succumbed to a concussion that he picked up last week in the win over Bracknell.
“So rather then shuffle the pack, we wanted to reward George Drake who has been playing very well as fly-half for the Seconds team which means we can keep the majority of the guys with more familiar spots.
“Mike Pope is moving to the wing to give us a bit more gas on the outside and Sam Hardcastle, who has been in such wonderful form coming off the bench in the last few weeks, is going to start.
“In the pack, we welcome back Joe Tarrant to the bench, in an otherwise unchanged pack with Ben Russell unfortunately missing out because of that.”
