Bournemouth Director Of Rugby Will Croker wants his players to prove they have the strongest squad in Dorset this weekend.
The first team take a break from topping the fifth tier of English rugby - South West Premier - following 17 wins in their opening 18 fixtures - sitting 11 points clear of Barnstaple.
But the club’s Seconds side are in Dorset and Wiltshire Cup action against Trowbridge at North Dorset RFC, and Croker says it shows their strength in depth.
Croker said: “In recent weeks, the Seconds team have beaten Bury St Edmunds and Henley away on the road in two very, very difficult fixtures.
“I believe we are blessed in having a depth of squad that means not only do we have best team in Dorset and Wiltshire, but also the second best.
“They will be hoping to prove that this weekend when they take on Trowbridge in the Second Team Cup Final at North Dorset.”
“We have a team picked to win it and in Pat Fraser we have a captain who has been making terrific steps forward with his decision making and leadership of the side, and backed up of course by the inimitable Sammy Veneroso.”
The club’s Third team travel away to local rivals Wimborne Thirds, with some injury and unavailability issues, but Croker is still confident of success with what he has.
Croker added: “The Thirds have a tough ask because they are away at Wimborne Thirds, which of course is always a local grudge match.
“We have suffered some injuries and unavailability throughout the course of this month which means the team probably does not have as much of a familiar look to it as we would normally expect to have.
“But I am hopeful they have still got enough wherewithal about them and enough talent in the side to be able to overcome them.
“The pack is a solid pack with the likes of Billy Maidment in it, and they will present a touch challenge up front.
“Of course they have the wily guile of Liam Driscoll playing at scrum-half, who will hopefully be able to orchestrate some good things from there.
“So hopefully we will see two good sets of results come through tomorrow evening.”
