Bournemouth Rugby players have joined AFC Bournemouth players and other national team sportsmen and women, to become the latest team to benefit from the High Performance Centre facility at Anglo European College of Chiropractic (AECC).

Based in Parkwood Road, Bournemouth, AECC is one of the oldest and most trusted chiropractic colleges in the world. Its High Performance Centre offers an unparalleled range of high tech functional evaluation tools, perfect for assisting the players in treatment, rehabilitation and conditioning, under the guidance of Chris Medcalf, the High Performance Centre Manager.

Chris said: “Working with any athlete from any sport requires an understanding of their particular needs and how and where they can improve. Our Primus machine - one of only two on the south coast – is a measuring and training device that can be used to improve strength and control through a variety of movements specific to the individual and their sporting requirements. The Primus has the ability to create a bespoke range of motion specific to an individual’s needs in order to evaluate joints, muscles and neural control. Detailed, on-screen information is available to provide real time analysis and feedback. I can engage with the Bournemouth Rugby players and develop a variety of movements specific to them and their sporting requirements, in a way that is highly measureable. This then gives us the ability to offer bespoke advice in order to improve an individual’s strength, control and performance.”

As a renowned higher education college, AECC provides education and clinical training in the fields of chiropractic and other healthcare subject areas, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Having Taught Degree Awarding Powers also allows the AECC to deliver, validate and award its own degrees. AECC’s highly respected treatment Clinic allows patients to be treated by final year students under the close supervision of fully qualified and experienced chiropractors registered with the General Chiropractic Council.

James Croker, CEO at Bournemouth Rugby, said: “Bournemouth Rugby is in an extremely fortunate and unique position in that we have a world renowned Centre of this calibre on our doorstep, which is specifically geared to the needs of ours and other sports club players. The partnership with AECC and use of the Centre enables our team to benefit from fitness training that focuses on the needs of rugby players, under the very specialist advice of Chris and his colleagues.”
