Bournemouth Rugby has marked the start of its 125th anniversary year at a launch event held at the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel, and unveiled the new black and red kit colours for the Club’s 125th season.
The launch was attended by more than 140 people, including many of the new ‘Club Ambassadors’ - invited by Bournemouth Rugby to represent the Club throughout this momentous year across sport, education, local authority, business and the media. They were joined by the Club’s partner sponsors, operational volunteers, rugby coaches and managers, as well as representatives from the Club’s charity for the 20/17/2018 season, Pilgrims Bandits.
James Croker, CEO at Bournemouth Rugby introduced key partner sponsors Rupert Holloway, Founder of Conker Gin and supporter of the First XV and Senior teams; Warren Munson, Managing Director at Inspire Professional Services Ltd., sponsor of Bournemouth Rugby’s Community Development Team; and Roger Woodall, CEO and Owner of Diamond Sporting Group, including Viper 10 - provider of the new look 125th anniversary Bournemouth Rugby kit.
James Croker, CEO at Bournemouth Rugby, said: "This launch is the start of a big year for Bournemouth Rugby. We have spent the last 12 months putting the foundations for community and business engagement in place and have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support from business, education and the local authorities. We are already so much more than the sum of our parts and have 125 years of heritage to build on. Through forward thinking management, the continued recruitment and work of a fantastic team of volunteers, strong relationships with our partners and of course by playing great rugby, the Club has a great future ahead of it."
Bournemouth Rugby has a thriving Academy & Minis section of 500 children playing rugby every Sunday age 4 to 18, with players such as Charlie Ewels going on to play for England U20s and England Men’s and Sam Bailey playing for England Counties U20s. The Club’s successful Girls Rugby section has become the hub for girls’ rugby in the region, while the Club’s partnership with Rippa Rugby has formed an established Community Development team, responsible for delivering rugby coaching into schools and deprived areas through an apprenticeship scheme that also develops young players as coaches.
Bournemouth Rugby offers a refreshing approach to business partnerships and networking, while sponsorship partners are keen to support and become involved with all aspects of the rugby community.
