Last time I did a match report it was on a pretty dire affair, but strange what a Christmas break and an early morning breakfast team meeting can do, a very similar looking bunch of lads was on the pitch for both games, but nothing similar on the rugby they played.
Last time we played Andover the match was over inside the first 10 minutes when we were 20 points or so behind, this time only a final minute score from them gave them the points.
But this, just in my view, was the best we have played all season, usual total commitment from the forwards, mixed with some great tackling and great runs and also getting the backs involved on a regular basis.
Talking backs, they made some great running moves that resulted in 3 tries, I think, including a great interception try by Monty to give us an early first half lead.
This seemed to wake Andover up and they played the slightly more incisive rugby the rest of the first half, scoring 3 tries.
For me, a bit of a disappointment, we had no subs and about 5 minutes before half time had an injury and had to go down to 14, Andover should really have done as well, but no, and then scored probably the decisive try just before half time.
Not sure what Matt put in their half time tea, but they come out and completely over ran Andover, except, no names hear, allowing them a soft interception try, for the match to be all level until their final minute try. Fantastic match and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Man of the Match, our No 10, Jason-Lee, fantastic defensive display, best moment of the game, he somehow stopped one of their very large players in his tracks, whilst then flying 10 feet backwards, great game young man.
Could go on all night about the positives shown today, but best not.
Trojans up next, onwards and upwards boys.
